Built in 1866 the former winding house has been derelict since the early 1970’s and is now surrounded by new housing, bought by a local developer with plans to convert into five luxury apartments the building will be brought back to life.
As the only dockside building to be retained, it has significant historical value a new glazed turret will enclose the building's existing chimney, which is a local landmark.
